Be Nice to Your Support Staff

So you were are lucky enough to land a job behind the mike in radio? That's great. But don't think for a moment that you are going to be successful without the help of a board operator, engineer, call screener, producer, and weather/news announcer.

Your support staff members do everything for you that you can't or won't do. What's more, they work just as hard as you do, yet make less money than you.

Treat them wonderfully. Let them have some of the freebies you receive. And don't ever forget that they can suddenly create a subconscious decline in your show's quality because of being yelled at or pushed around. Your ego is something they can handle; your tantrums are not.
